CE Label

The self-adhesive CE labels that we sell here at Label Source are made of high-quality vinyl with a laminated surface for added durability. They are waterproof, weatherproof, and rub test compliant; these are top-quality labels in all respects, and they are ideal for marking all kinds of different machines, instruments, and pieces of equipment.

What does the CE mark mean?

CE stands for 'Conformité Européenne' - that's French for 'European Conformity'. The symbol shown above, which can be found on a huge variety of different products, essentially means that the item in question conforms to European standards and can be sold within the European Economic Area (EEA).

Is the UK still part of the EEA?

At time of writing, the United Kingdom is still a full member of both the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area, meaning that many products are still required to bear the CE symbol if they are to be sold here. As you are probably aware, the British people voted to leave the EU in June 2016; however, this does not necessarily mean that the country will also leave the EEA.

Much of the Brexit debate has revolved around the question of whether we are in for a 'soft' Brexit or a 'hard' Brexit. Those in favour of a hard Brexit effectively want the UK to sever all ties with Europe, including the EEA, while advocates for a softer Brexit have suggested that Britain could remain within the European 'free trade zone' even after exiting the European Union proper. (It's likely that this will only be an option if the UK makes some concessions to the EU, e.g. on immigration / freedom of movement).

It is currently unclear whether or not CE labels will continue to be a mandatory presence in British stores for the long term. However, for the time being, the UK is still bound by the same legislation as before the EU referendum, and so British retailers will still be seeing CE symbol on a regular basis for at least a little while yet.

Our CE labels are ideal for machinery and equipment of all sizes. Click here to order your CE symbol labels from the Label Source website.

As part of a programme of measures to tackle noise pollution, some 47 types of appliances need to be clearly marked with their decibel output during operation, as part of the Noise Emission Directive 2000/14/EC (The Noise Emission in the Environment by Equipment for Outdoor Regulations, 2001).

These include appliances and equipment powered by diesel or petrol, pneumatic or electrical, for use in construction, in civil engineering, forestry, parks and gardens, to control sound power levels.

Common products to be marked with their noise output levels include lawn mowers, trimmers, chain saws, shredders and chippers; dumpers, excavators, concrete mixers, aerial access platforms and mobile cranes; drills, jack hammers, sanders, arc welders, compactors and refuse collection vehicles.

Label Source has supplied many custom printed labels for product applications, not only including noise emission levels, but also company logos and contact details, CE marking, model numbers or serial numbers. These have been manufactured in a range of pressure sensitive labels in pvc or polyester, and in metals (aluminium or stainless steel), with surface laminates and coatings, all suitable for outdoor use. If you require a quotation please contact us by e-mail (sales@labelsource.co.uk) or by telephone 0800 3761693 (in UK) or +44 1443 842769 (outside UK).

Many of our labels are supplied for marking enclosures or cabinets housing control or automation equipment for industrial, electrical, traffic control, street lighting, security or telecommunications purposes. These custom produced labels include branding of company logos, rating plates to identify make and model, operating instructions, asset or inventory control, or for safety (such as electrical voltage symbols).

The cabinets or junction boxes can be for indoor or outdoor use and the specification of such labels should reflect the differing applications.

Adhesives have to be chosen to suit the enclosure fabric, which can vary from plastics, fibreglass to metal (such as aluminium, galvanized stainless steel). Also, surface finishes can vary from low energy, to stippled or contoured. Another option is to provide metal labels with drill holes for screwing or riveting to housings.

Operating conditions can vary from clean hygiene environments, where surfaces need to be regularly be treated for contaminants), to marine conditions with high salt or chlorine content, harsh climatic conditions (high precipitation, high winds, dry dust, UV resistance, or low/high temperatures), or aggressive chemical atmospheres. Therefore, the choice of materials and protective laminates can be critical to enable the labels to suit the application.

So, no matter if these are free standing, or wall mounted, for internal or external location, we can work with you to provide a labelling marker solution. CE Labelling is mandatory in the EU, on products included in the scope of one or more of the new approach directives. Some of these directives cover products such as, medical devices, radio and telecommunications terminal equipment, marine equipment, pressure equipment, non-automatic weighing instruments They are used to show that the product is verified with the regulations of the European Conformity, which means the product can be sold in the EEA (European Economic Area).  This also applies to products manufactured in other countries which are sold in the EEA. These labels and nameplates state that the product has been assessed and is fully compliant, before being placed on the market.

Label Source supply a range of CE labels and nameplates, available in self- adhesive vinyl (with a clear protective surface) and also in aluminium. These labels and nameplates are rub test compliant, scratch and chemical resistance and waterproof. Some of the CE labelling products include WEEE and RoHS symbols (for product recycling).
