Amendments to the Safety at Street Works Act became effective on the 1st October 2014, and introduced some changes to the traffic sign and barrier layouts on works or excavations on roadways, pavements and verges.

For carriageways with speed limits of 50mph or more, it is a requirement to provide extra warning signs with distance indicators counting down on the approach to the works.

Extra warning signs should be used if advanced visibility of the works is obscured, such as beyond a bend, over the brow of a hill, in a dip in the road, or where there may be overhanging trees or other natural obstructions to vision.

Site information signs are becoming compulsory on most sites, but recommended for all sites.  These signs are 600mm high by 450mm wide and can be attached by bungee straps to barriers (between top and bottom panels), without covering the reflective panels of the barrier. These reflective panels can include company name and logo, contact details, information on the works, and white panels for adding permit numbers.

Large format priority signs can be used to emphasise give way or priority when 2-way traffic is not possible, especially where works is greater than 80 metres in length, or where the traffic flow is greater than 42 vehicle over a three minute span.

All these measures form part of an effort to prevent accidents and injuries to the workforce or vehicle users, where road or mobile works are taking place.

All of our road safety signs comply with the new amendments of the Safety at Street Works Act. Ensure that your order the correct signs with the correct sizing from our wide range today!

Why recycle?

Waste has a negative impact on the environment; therefore recycling is the best way to have a positive impact on the world. Here are a few reasons why:

Environmental purposes:

 ·     Landfill sites release harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses into the environment. Recycling will help reduce the pollution which is caused by waste, this then helps to battle climate change. This can result in land contamination.

 ·     Current UK recycling is predicted to save more than 18 million tonnes of CO2 a year – equivalent to taking 5 million cars off the road.

 ·      Climate change is caused by deforestation. Recycling will result in reducing the need for raw materials so that rainforests can be preserved.

·         Finally, Energy is used when making raw materials, recycling will require less energy and therefore helps to preserve natural resources.

Welfare to humans and animals

If you do not recycle you can damage human and animal health and welfare. An example of this is primary and secondary exposure to toxic metals, such as lead, results mainly from open-air burning used to retrieve valuable components such as gold. Combustion from burning e-waste creates fine particulate matter, which is linked to pulmonary and cardiovascular disease.

How Label Source can help.

Label Source is passionate about recycling and would like to help you and your company to become green. We provide a range of recycling signs to help prompt people to identify locations for collection and storage of products for recycling. Apart from general recycling points, there are specific signs for aluminium cans, glass, plastics, newspapers, engine oil, metals, clinical waste and non-hazardous general waste. The signs can form part of a waste recycling programme to minimise the use of resources, process waste, and to prevent products going directly into landfill.

These signs are used in manufacturing, retail, construction, schools and colleges, hospitals, public areas, offices, warehousing and distribution. All the signs cover the mobius loop symbol to signify recyclable products, whether solid or liquid. They can be used at recycling centres, on waste bins, wheelie bins, bottle banks, trash cans or sharps / needle stick disposal boxes. Start promoting recycling today to prevent environmental consequences.

It is that time of year again; winter is slowly drawing in on us, which means only one thing... Flu season!! Flu is one of the most common causes of sickness absence throughout the winter. It can easily be spread and very unpleasant. Label Source wants to help prevent flu spreading by assisting you with hygiene signs in and around the workplace.

One way to help prevent flu would be by washing your hands frequently. This can prevent infectionss and illnesses. It was discovered that, washing your hands with water and soap routinely can prevent you from a number of infections like salmonella, E. coli 0157, and norovirus that causes diarrhea, and it can spread some respiratory infections like adenovirus and hand-foot-mouth disease.

If you are working within a fast environment, where you feel you do not have the time or access to wash your hands regularly, an easy way to do so would be the use of hand santitisers. This is particularly good if you work in healthcare, where patients are vulnerable to infections and germs. The environment must also be kept clean to prevent germs and infections spreading.

Label Source can help you prevent the spread of germs by displaying personal hygiene signs. We provide a range of signs for personal hygiene, hand washing, hand sanitising, skin protection, hand protection, hair protection and clean areas. These signs can be used within many different industries such as healthcare, catering, manufacturing, food processing, retail and many more. This can prevent the amount of sick days people are taking, as research by the Co-Operative Pharmacy estimated that, 7.6 million working days a year are lost to flu, costing the British economy £1.35Bn.

Label Source wants you to have a healthy winter, so make sure your hygiene signs are displayed to prevent the dreaded flu! Together we can beat flu.
