UK law means you must display certain signs and posters throughout your business premises. But, if you’re particularly eco-conscious, you may be concerned about this additional use of paper, plastic, and metal.

From eco-friendly poster ideas to sustainable signage materials, read on to learn more about how you can stay green:

Choose Reusable Signs

As the famous phrase goes: reduce, reuse, and recycle. If you are eco-conscious, then reusable signs could help minimise your impact on the planet and ensure you get value for money.

Of course, some labels or posters aren’t easily reused, but our a-boards, notice boards and temporary road signs can be used for years to come. Freestanding and portable, they can easily be collapsed and stored when not in use, then retrieved and put up in seconds when needed.

If you’d prefer to paint on your warnings, our heavy duty stencils can be reused time and time again. Individual letters and numbers can be reordered to say different things or choose a premade phrase for ease.

Many of our wall signs can also be reused. Made with drilled holes for screw fixings. Simply unscrew to move them to a new location. Those with adhesive fixings are a little trickier to remove but can certainly be repurposed with a suitable replacement adhesive.

Make Your Signs Last Longer

While many of our signs are reusable, they will not look their best forever. We would encourage careful maintenance, cleaning and storage to keep them looking their best for longer.

You can read more about this in our blog: How to Clean Safety Signs

Alternatively, laminate your posters to keep them damage-free from water, tears, and other accidents.

Consider Biodegradable Materials

If you’re looking for a long-lasting and affordable sign, generally, it will be made of metal or plastic. Aluminium is the most eco-friendly signage material because it is the most recyclable. It can be recycled time and time again without compromising on its quality.

However, that’s not to say there aren’t other material options out there. Eco-friendly signage materials include:

• Other recycled metals

• Recycled plastic

• Recycled wood

• Recycled cardboard

• Bamboo

Encourage Eco-Friendly Behaviours

So, we’ve discussed sustainable signage materials and reusing signs, but how people behave will also have a huge impact on your business’ green credentials. That’s where environmental signs and tapes come in.

Our environmental management range encourages the ISO 14001 environmental management system in the workplace, particularly reduced wastage. It includes:

Recycling signs – to highlight where recycling points are and what can be recycled.

Waste segregation signage – to show which bin is for which waste materials.

Resource conservation signs and notices – to encourage energy-saving measures and resource management.

• And many more.
