Who Must Comply with Safety Regulations?

Employers must undertake risk assessments to find and address workplace hazards under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations of 1999. Additionally, according to the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), businesses are required to offer safety signs that can be used to inform or warn people and lower their risk of getting hurt or developing health problems.

However, except for some fire safety warnings, the HSE advises that a business may not be required to show a sign when there is "no major risk to health and safety.”
